Lesson # 3: Rank() Function in MS Excel

RANK() formula in MS Excel:
This function is available for compatibility with Excel 2007 and earlier.
Now, what it does? And how are we going to use it in a spreadsheet?
Let us look how it works:
RANK = Returns a rank of number in a list of numbers.
Syntax or sequence of command:
=RANK(number, ref)
                Let’s look at our example below:

                We use RANK.EQ since we have the newer version of MS Excel (MS Excel 2016), if more than one value has the same rank, the top rank of that set of values is returned.
In our example, the number that we are going to rank is found in cell F5 and the list or reference of numbers are from F5 to F8. The formula says “rank 85 (which is located in cell F5) in a list of numbers (which are located from cell F5 to F8”

                Rank() formula is useful in grading system in which you can easily locate the top 10 students in an electronic class record automatically.
